As part of our continuing series, screening a film as a group and then meeting up after to gush and discuss over a drink or bite, we bring you Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!
The holidays proved to be too busy to organize a first run screening of this, but as it makes it’s way to second run theaters, we have the great option of screening at OMSI in the Empirical Theater. Beforehand, we’ll set up in OMSI’s “Fishbowl” for free pre show drinks and shop talk. Drinks at 6pm, film at 7pm.
Tickets are $5 at the door for SIGGRAPH members (or you can choose $7 online in advance, but we do not expect this to sell out).

…we’re only using Eventbrite here to track our numbers and make sure our beverage needs are met. If it’s a game time decision for you, don’t worry about registering on Eventbrite – all should be fine and a ticket is not required to attend the casual pre-screening meetup. Typically our meetups are after the film, but with the beverage sponsorship and it being on a Monday, we moved this one to ahead of the film so we can head home around 9:20pm.
For this continuing series, it’s our goal to try to assemble a screening and meetup like this for the larger, more groundbreaking films in the VFX/3D/Animation space. We schedule these screenings a few weeks after release, so as not to interfere with any opening week plans with friends or family. Come out, see some incredible imagery, and let it fuel our shop talk after!
