Wanted to announce in an official capacity that Portland SIGGRAPH is on hiatus. In the current pandemic climate we all find ourselves mired in, it makes sense to conserve our efforts and focus on what’s important at home.
Simply a “pause” and not a “stop.” I am hopeful that we can pick up where we left off once this vicious pandemic passes; at that time, we’ll plan to restart the chapter with the yearly officer election that was planned for Oct 2020. With any luck, we’ll be able to return to a safe version of events that bring our Portland-area community together once again.
In the meantime, I’ll be on the lookout for online event opportunities like the Jeff Okun Science Pub presentation (in cooperation with OMSI) and our online Reel Review. I and the others involved in SIGGRAPH will continue to share job opportunities and Portland industry + studio news through the LinkedIn Group. Stay tuned and stay safe, everyone!
